PONTYPOOL will attempt to claim another Premiership scalp when they entertain Swansea in round one of the Specsavers National Cup.

Championship winners Pooler made the semi-finals last year where they were edged out by Merthyr at Ebbw Vale’s Eugene Cross Park.

Leighton Jones’ men will attempt to add the Whites to their recent victories against Llanelli, Cardiff, Carmarthen Quins, Cross Keys and Bridgend.

Newport, runners-up in 2018, have home advantage against Carmarthen Quins while Ebbw Vale head to Narberth.

Cross Keys take on Championship rivals Glamorgan Wanderers, Bedwas travel to Tata Steel and Bargoed head to Aberavon.

A mouth-watering tie sees Merthyr entertain Pontypridd while holders Cardiff face a tough test against RGC in Colwyn Bay.

The fixtures will be played on the weekend of September 14.
