South East Wales Cricket League
Division 1
Pentyrch 1sts (160 all out) lost to Chepstow 1sts (263-7) by 103 runs
TWO partnerships turned the game in Chepstow Firsts’ favour at Pentyrch, writes Bob Cypher.
“We were three wickets down with 84 on the board at one stage,” Chepstow all-rounder Malith Madurasinghe said later.
“But an excellent 78-run partnership between Dave Bennett (74) and Tyler Morgan-Huggett (35) for the fourth wicket turned the game in our favour.
“Later, a 52-run sixth wicket partnership between Ricky Sahabdeen (29) and myself (27 not out) propelled our score to a dominant total.
“The game was in the balance at 120-4 at the half-way stage of Pentyrch’s reply but the introduction of spinners Tudor Morgan-Huggett (3-10) and Lewys Jones (3-31) strangled the opposition to give us a comfortable 103 run win in the 40th over.
“We travel to Cardiff Gymkhana next week looking to maintain our winning form.”
