East Gwent League round-up

ISCOED Tafarn retained their grip on top spot with a 4-1 home win over Sudbrook and now hold a two-point advantage over Caldicot Castle A, writes Bob Cypher.

Monmouth Town are third, six points behind Castle with the top three having played 16 games.

Severn Tunnel are fourth following a 7-1 win at Undy Athletic where their scorers were James Perrett 3, Jordan Griffiths 2, Will Morgan and Chris Taylor.

Thornwell R&W A, beaten 4-2 by Caldicot Castle A at the weekend, are fifth.

Tunnel and Thornwell have played 14 and 13 games respectively.

In Division 2, leaders Caldicot Town beat Caldicot Castle B 6-0 while Chepstow Town enjoyed the same score while beating Portskewett & Sudbrook B.

Raglan stepped up the pressure on Thornwell B - who didn’t have a game - with a 2-1 home win over Sudbrook CC B.

This weekend sees the Gill Cup semi-finals between Severn Tunnel and Thornwell R&W A and Caldicot Castle v Iscoed Tafarn.

The Fishwick Cup semis will also be played between Caldicot Town and Sudbrook CC B and Chepstow Town v Thornwell R&W B. All cup matches kick off at 1.15pm.

Only two league matches per division are scheduled.

Port & Sud A v Rockfield Rovers and Undy Athletic v Sudbrook CC A in Division 1, while Division 2 matches see Raglan at home to Caldicot Castle B and Chepstow Athletic entertain Port & Sud B.
