WALES will play England in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Wembley in October.
Ryan Giggs’ men head to London on Thursday, October 8 after kicking off their UEFA Nations League campaign, with the clash against the English a tune-up for their trip to the Republic of Ireland.
Wales will return to action with an away fixture at Finland on Thursday, September 3 and entertain Bulgaria the following Sunday.
They will then face England for the first time since the late loss at Euro 2016 that was followed by a stirring recovery to make it all the way to the semi-finals.
Wales last played at Wembley in 2011 when Ashley Cole’s strike was the difference in a Euro 2012 qualifier, with Robert Earnshaw missing a golden chance to level.
England have won the last five meetings since Wales’ 1-0 win at the Racecourse in Wrexham in 1984, courtesy of Mark Hughes’ goal.
Giggs’ side will be using this match to prepare for the rescheduled EURO 2020 finals next summer where they hope to return to Wembley, one of the host stadiums, for the latter stages of the tournament.
