AARON Wainwright has been recalled to the Wales matchday squad for the Six Nations clash with Italy.

The back row forward joins Dragons teammates Elliot Dee and Leon Brown on the bench as Wales continue their bid for a Six Nations Grand Slam in Rome on Saturday (kick-off 2.15pm).

Head coach Wayne Pivac was at the Brewery Field in Bridgend to watch Wainwright impress in the win against the Ospreys.

Sam Davies may have won the official man of the match award but the back rower scored a try, was dynamic with ball in hand and put in some telling blows in defence.

His reward is a spot as a replacement in Rome, pipping James Botham to the place as back-up to the trio of Josh Navidi, Justin Tipuric and Taulupe Faletau.

Pivac makes two changes with former Dragons captain Cory Hill replacing Adam Beard in the second row and Gareth Davies getting the nod at scrum-half for the injured Kieran Hardy.

โ€œWe are really looking forward to this weekend and are ready to get out there on Saturday,โ€ said Pivac.

โ€œThree from three is a great start but there has been plenty to do and plenty of work-ons. Weโ€™ve had a two week build up to this game, trained really well in the fallow week and are looking forward to round four.โ€

Dragons centre Nick Tompkins misses out again while Rodney Parade-bound Will Rowlands will be released back to Wasps after Jake Ball got the nod on the bench.
