COACH Barry Maddocks is leaving the Dragons after four seasons at Rodney Parade.

Maddocks arrived from Bath in 2017 as skills coach after previously working with Aberavon, England's sevens teams, Wales Under-16s and Hartpury College.

He was promoted to attack coach by Bernard Jackman the following season but the arrival of Gordon Ross last summer led to him working as skills coach in the current campaign.

The former Aberavon centre will leave after Friday’s final game of the 2021/22 season at Leinster.

“Everyone at Dragons is grateful to Barry for his efforts during his time at the region and we wish him the best in the next chapter of his coaching career,” said director of rugby Dean Ryan.

The boss has now completely reshaped his management team since arriving in 2019 after bringing in Ross, forwards coaches Luke Narraway and Mefin Davies plus defence coach Simon Cross.

Stalwarts Brok Harris, Lewis Evans and Matthew Screech are leaving the Dragons while Arwel Robson, Ed Scragg and Carwyn Penny have signed for Cornish Pirates.

Centre Connor Edwards has moved to Doncaster and wing Dafydd Howells, hooker Rhys Lawrence, scrum-half Luke Baldwin and wingers Deon Smith and Joe Goodchild have been released.
