THERE was a severe lack of Monmouthshire action in the WRU East League at the weekend with just one Division 2 match going ahead.
The start appears to be a very stop-start affair.
As it was, the only match to go ahead was Caldicot’s 31-17 win over Usk
But for reasons known only by the WRU, clubs face a number of fixture-free Saturdays which could mean an extended season if snow, ice, Autumn Internationals and Six Nations tournament play havoc with recreational rugby as has occurred in previous years.
One club official suggested the reason could be to give clubs the chance to share players between leagues but that was pure conjecture.
