DEFENDER Ryan Haynes says there will be no fear for Newport County AFC as they head to Bradford City today and he insists that it’s rival teams who should be scared of the Exiles.

Bradford, who start the day seventh in the League Two table, are among the favourites to win promotion this season.

But they are without a win in five games and Haynes says County are confident of claiming a first win in Bradford since 1978, which would see them move to within a point of the Bantams with a game in hand.

“I’ve played there before,” said the left-back. “It’s a big stadium and they’ve got a big fan-base and it’s a great game to play in.

“I don’t think you should fear anyone. If anything, teams should fear us because we’re a very good side.

“We shouldn’t be looking at anyone and thinking ‘we’re scared of them’ – no way.”

It will be an emotional day for Exiles boss Michael Flynn, who will be making his first return to Valley Parade since playing for the club between 2009 and 2012.

“It’s a club I’m obviously fond of and it’s a fantastic football club.

“This will be my first time back at Valley Parade and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’ve got some really good memories. The fans were fantastic there. It’s a big stadium and the atmosphere is great and we’ve got to use that to our advantage.

“It’s going to be a really tough weekend with the long journey and the injuries, but we’re going there with nothing to lose.

“The pressure will be on them – they haven’t won in five.

“We’ve got to go there and give it our best shot and hopefully we come away with a positive result.”

Flynn is impressed with the job that Gary Bowyer has done since taking over at Bradford in March.

“They shouldn’t be in this division,” he said. “They’ve got some really good players and a good manager who has been there, seen it and done it at this level with Blackpool.

“And I think people underestimate the job he’s done there because the club was a mess. Gary’s putting it all back together and I think he deserves a lot of credit for that.”
