George Nurse signs for County's League Two rivals Walsall

The 21-year-old Bristol City prospect made 26 appearances, 17 of them starts, down the left for the Exiles in 2019/20.

Nurse won County's goal of the season for his stunning long-range winner in the last minute of the clash with Carlisle United at Rodney Parade in October.

The defender/midfielder will now have a second campaign in League Two after making the move to the Saddlers, who finished two places and one point above Michael Flynn's side in the curtailed season.

"I'm buzzing. I've known about the move for a while now and I am just happy to finally get it over the line," said Nurse.

"The relationship that the club has already got with my parent club Bristol City was a big factor in coming here.

"I spoke to the boys who had been here before, Pringy and Rory (Holden), and they really sold the club to me. After I had spoken to them, it was an easy decision.

"When I spoke to the two boys, they said that there is a really good group of lads here and they said the training facilities are fantastic. I have been to the training ground and had a look round this morning and the pitches are brilliant.

"The manager likes to play his young players and he puts his faith in them and that is a good sign for me. I am here to get plenty of game time and I can't wait to crack on."

"I watched George a few times last season whilst he was out on loan at Newport County and I was extremely impressed with him," said Walsall manager Darrell Clarke.

"He has the ability to play as a full-back, a wing-back and he can play left midfield as well which is very appealing and he has great potential.

"We've got a great relationship with Bristol City and we're very grateful to them for trusting us with another one of their youth prospects."
