ON-LOAN forward Scott Twine is hungry for more goals after opening his account for the Exiles in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.

Twine grabbed the only goal of the match in Newport County AFC’s second-round win over Cambridge United last week.

Ahead of tonight’s clash with Watford, the youngster – on-loan from Swindon Town – said he hoped there were more goals to come.

The 21-year-old said he had been watching highlights from the Exiles’ previous cup heroics to get him in the mood for the visit of Championship side Watford.

“I’ve seen the good results and I’ve been watching on Youtube some of the games – they always seem to play well in cup games,” he said.

“I’m very excited, but I just wish the fans were there as well.

“It won’t be the same. On the pitch it will still be 11 v 11, but it’s a big shame the fans won’t be there to see it.”

Twine said he had settled at Newport County and was enjoying his season-long loan at the club.

“As soon as I got the call to come on loan to Newport I said yes,” Twine said. “I wanted to prove myself and so far, so good. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it, coming to training every day and I’ve certainly enjoyed the matches.

“I couldn’t be happier.”

On County’s chances against Watford, Twine said: “I think it will be a tough game, but we’ve got nothing to lose.

“Hopefully we can go and express ourselves, play well, work hard, and maybe get the win.”

Exiles manager Michael Flynn said he had been impressed by Twine’s performances so far.

“He’s settled in really well, and he’s a good kid – he works hard and he’s got the ability in the final thrid to open teams up.

“I’m really pleased with him. There’s more to come from him. This is a good run in the team that he’s managing to do at the moment, and he’s only going to get better.”
