THE Newport Academy of Performing Arts’ performance of Footloose was full of energy and enthusiasm. There was almost a full turn out where members of the audience seemed very excited for the show.

The story followed Ren McCormack and his new life in Bomont where he tries to bring back dancing despite the views of the community.

A strong relationship formed between Ren and Ariel Moore, played by Pheobe Jones, which was a joy to watch. The acting was superb where the chemistry was obvious between the two characters.

Ariel’s trio of friends Urleene, Rusty and Wendy Jo were a great team where their singing of Somebody’s Eyes held a great performance and showed off some great singing skills.

If you are looking for comedy, Ben Donovan played by Willard Hewitt, was full of amusing anecdotes where it was obvious he was an audience favourite.

A special mention must be given to David Jones playing Reverend Shaw Moore who for at the age of sixteen played a very convincing role.

The finale song with Footloose was a show-stopper and had everyone in the audience clapping along and enjoying themselves.

Fun, uplifting and heart-warming, you will go back home still singing the songs.
