Terry Jones’ Fairy Tales will be brought to life on BBC Radio Wales this Christmas by some of Wales’ best loved voices; Torchwood actress Eve Myles, The One Show presenter Alex Jones, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and comedian and actor Griff Rhys Jones.

From Monday, 16th December at 3.45pm and across the week at the same time, Terry Jones’ Fairy Tales will also feature recordings by Terry Jones himself, and the programmes will be broadcast together in a special omnibus edition on Christmas Day at 5pm.

The news comes as National Theatre Wales prepares to open its first Christmas production, Silly Kings – a large-scale, musical production for children and very silly adults, adapted from Fairy Tales – in Cardiff Castle on Thursday 19th December.

This interactive, family-friendly show will be packed with Pythonesque coconut shells, slapstick humour and live music from Groove Armada’s Patrick Dawes, all in a huge, heated Spiegeltent in Cardiff’s glorious Castle.

Terry Jones said: “I’m very pleased that BBC Radio Wales will be broadcasting some of my Fairy Tales as part of their special programmes for Christmas. I’m hoping that young listeners - and old ones - all the way from Colwyn Bay to Cardiff Bay will enjoy escaping for a few minutes to a very different world!”
