There’s a wealth of music this season, with a recitals by the young violinist Joo Yeon Sir and the Brandenburg Bach Soloists. Other music events include the astonishing Budapest Gypsy Orchestra led by the world-class Gypsy jazz musician, Tcha Limberger. West End star Peter Karrie returns with a fun-filled concert featuring songs from the Musicals.

Tribute bands include Britain’s most popular Buddy Holly act, Buddy Holly & The Cricketers as well as the greatest hits of Electric Light Orchestra reproduced by ELO Experience, Magic - a tribute to Queen and T-Rextasy, the official tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan and T-Rex.

Wales’ best-loved storyteller, Daniel Morden transports audiences of all ages to a land of magic and danger with his new show, Tree of Leaf and Flame with wonderful stories from The Mabinogi accompanied by mesmerising music from Oli Wilson Dickson and Dylan Fowler.

There’s some unusual theatre including Penny Dreadful Productions’ How To Be Immortal – an original new play about the weird and wonderful ways we try to hold on to the people we’ve lost and Stans Café’s extraordinary The Anatomy of Melancholy based on a self-help manual written in the time of Shakespeare.

Events for children and families include The First Time Machine – a dance through time featuring deeds of daring–do; Grandpa’s Railway, featuring a model railway on stage and Pirate Gran, a magical swashbuckling story based on the popular books by Geraldine Durrant and Rose Forshall.

As always, local community groups present a wealth of productions Rareseed Theatre, a new youth company perform a double bill Rats! by Liz Pearce and Looking Out To See by Charles Way. The Abergavenny Pantomime Company present Rumpelstiltskin during February half-term; there will be a St David’s Day Concert with local performers and two musicals The Mystery of Edwin Drood performed by the Concept Players and High Society from AAODS. Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company present Ignite, an exciting project which has empowered the young dancers to commission their own professional choreographers. Abergavenny Camera Club present the popular naturalist and broadcaster Iolo Williams. And finally, Abergavenny’s Keith Davies performs his ever- popular Evening with Elvis.
