TWO people arrested on suspicion of the murder of a one-month old baby in 2012 have had their bail extended.
The Argus reported in November last year how a 43-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from Cwmbran were arrested on suspicion of the murder of Amelia Jones.
The duo were due to answer bail yesterday and a Gwent Police spokeswoman said the bail date had now been extended to March 19.
Police were called to a house in Waun Hywel Road, Pontnewydd, on November 17, 2012, by ambulance staff.
Amelia was taken to Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital and transferred to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales. She died on November 19.
At the time of the incident, her father Ian Skillern said: “In regards to Amelia Rose, my beautiful daughter, who passed away on Monday the 19th of November, she will be sadly missed, and brought me joy in the short time she was here.
“My family and I wish to assist Gwent Police in any possible way to establish why this tragedy occurred.”
