A CWMBRAN charity is looking to raise money for a new shelter for its elderly sheep.

All Creatures Great and Small, an animal sanctuary on Church Farm in Llanfrechfa, is looking to raise £999 to buy and build the new pen.

Richard Crane, the charity’s fundraising manager, says ideally it is looking for a timber shelter with a corrugated roof but is open to other possible offers, such as second-hand shelters.

The charity needs to build the shelter to reduce the chances of the sheep becoming ill from footrot and flystrike, which are extremely contagious diseases.

It would make it easier to compartmentalise the sheep and stop the diseases spreading.

Mr Crane said the charity looks after 140 animals “from guinea pigs to horses to everything in between.”
