CWMBRAN male choir raised over £1,030 for fire-wrecked Coed Eva Primary School with a beautiful fundraising evening of song on Saturday.

Over 200 people turned up at The Salvation Army hall as the community continues to rally round the school, part destroyed by the New Year’s Day blaze.

Impressive performances by Coed Eva’s school choir, banjo-duet Tony Carpenter and Lee Miles, soloists Victoria Haines, Sophie Murphin and Coed Eva music teacher Karen Middle galvanised the hall for nearly three hours, finishing with a raffle.

Organiser and Coedeva ex-pupil Malcolm Gough of the Cwmbran male choir, 56, said: “It was quite a moving event.

“The school’s choir’s version of Believe was the highlight and Karen sang so beautifully.”

Ms Middle added: “The hall was packed, our choir were excellently behaved and they did really well, the audience seemed very impressed.”
