VOLUNTEERS from across Monmouthshire are set to be recognised by Monmouthshire County Council during Volunteer's Week.
The annual event, which takes place from June 1 to 12, celebrates the contributions from millions of volunteers across the UK.
Within the county, almost 2,000 volunteers support the running of the council, with up to 30 volunteers supporting youth workers.
The council will work with the Monmouthshire Volunteer Centre run by Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) to raise the profile of volunteering with a series of events.
These include drop-in sessions, presentations, charity stalls, fun days and tea parties as well as a presence at community events such as the RSPCA open day in Newport on June 12.
On June 8, GAVO will also be hosting volunteering awareness sessions at the Refugee & Asylum Seekers Project and a Volunteer Achievement Awards at Pontypool Active Living Centre.
Monmouthshire’s deputy leader, Cllr Bob Greenland said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who already add real value to our public services here in Monmouthshire.
"The importance of voluntary contribution to the community cannot be underestimated. Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to raise the profile of volunteering within Monmouthshire and to recognise and explore ways of making the experience even better.”
