MORE than £700 was raised for Penarth RNLI's new lifeboat appeal through a breakfast event.

The Dinas Powys fundraising branch of the RNLI recently held its annual breakfast roll event and have donated £710 to the Penarth lifeboat station's appeal which has taken the total for the appeal up to £41,900 since it launched in July.

A shop was manned on the day by volunteers from the Penarth branch and they sold over £375 worth of Christmas cards and other RNLI items to those attending the event.

Jason Dunlop, lifeboat operations manager for Penarth said: "This is such a great achievement by the Dinas Powys branch, and we are really grateful for this generous donation.

"It is also pleasing to see Penarth and Dinas Powys branches working together to support the appeal."

Laurie Pavelin, chairman of Penarth RNLI added: "I would like to extend my thanks to all those who supported the event , those who helped on the day and those who made donations or gave raffle prizes.

"Special thanks must also go to the people of Dinas Powys who loyally support the RNLI and its fundraising events held in the village."

The fundraising branch at Dinas Powys is made up of chairman Diana Balch, secretary Julie Barnes, treasurer Averil Harris and Anne Fraser.
