A MONMOUTHSHIRE schoolgirl’s skating dedication has landed her a role in a Cardiff Christmas show.
Maeve Barratt, a pupil at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls (HMSG), will take to the frozen stage with professional skaters for the Ice Arena Wales’ Nutcracker on Ice show on December 8 and 9.
She was scouted for the role by coaches at her regular lessons at Ice Arena Wales, during which she practices a variety of jumps and spins.
The 12-year-old said she is really excited about the show, and said she is hoping for more of a career in ice skating.
“I’m really excited about the show and learning the difficult routines. Skating gives me a focus and I love the feeling of gliding across the ice.
“HMSG is very supportive and always lets me go to competitions. I’m working towards the British Championships in ice dance now.”
