Thornbury rugby round-up

THORNBURY Ladies won their first ever game with a 15-12 win over Clevedon Ladies.

The historic win saw the Thornbees score three tries through Emma Nicholson and Bobbie Jackson with two.

Thornbury Second XV’s game with Cotham Park was called off thirty minutes before kick off when the opposition cried off the match. Thornbury Third XV enjoyed a 28-22 win over St Brendan’s Old Boys 2s.

This Saturday, Thornbury First XV play North Petherton at home whilst the Second XV are at Dings Crusaders. The Third XV are home to Chipping Sodbury Seconds.

On Sunday, Thornbury Ladies travel to Newbury to take on the Berkshire club’s Ladies team. Kick off is 2pm.

Thornbury will play National League side Clifton in the quarter final of the Bristol Combination Cup on Saturday November 18.

Gloucester will send a President’s XV to take on Thornbury on August 4 next season in a celebration fundraising match.

The Gloucester side is likely to include former internationals Thinus Delport, Terry Fanuloa, Junior Paramore and Mike Tindall.
