CHEPSTOW RFC played a development XV against St Peter's second XV last weekend, with the youngsters putting on a strong display to win 61-17.

Of the 19 Chepstow players used, 14 were youth team regulars, while St Peter's used the match as a warm up for their Cardiff second team Cup final this weekend. But the home side ran riot and amassed some nine tries, the first from new youth prop forward recruit David Wheeler.

Further first half tries were scored by Sean McDermott, Rhys Jenkins and two by Dan Chiu. Ashley Young had a good day with the boot converting four of the five, to give the Development side a healthy 33-5 half time lead. Despite making four changes at the break Chepstow started where they had left off in the first half, with scores coming from Andrew Morris and Lee Kelley. Chiu completed his a hat trick, and a final try and four conversions from Young wrapped the scoring up.

The previous week, Borderers had been in action against Dinas Powis, running out 24-19 winners despite being on the back foot most of the afternoon. Tries were scored by prop Ryan Beddows (2), Sam Williams, and Rhys Jenkins.

This weekend the Borderers travel to Holland for a short Easter tour. The bus leaves Chepstow RFC at 7.45am on Friday and there is another bus booked to provide transport from Caldicot RFC leaving 7am.

All players should attend a full squad get together at Chepstow RFC clubhouse on Thursday.
