POLICE in Monmouth are seeking to identify the man shown in this e-fit following an incident in Usk last month, writes Andy Sherwill.

At 11am on Wednesday, March 15, a woman in her 80s was met at her Usk home by a man claiming to be from the electricity board and had come to inspect the power points in her house.

The man, described as being in his early 30s, did not show the pensioner any identification and proceeded to walk around the interior of the property.

It's believed that nothing was stolen and subsequent enquires made by the police led them to believe that he was a bogus caller.

The police are looking for the man who is described as a white male, aged 30, 5ft 8in tall, of proportionate build with dark brown collar length hair and was smartly dressed in a suit and tie and was clean shaven.

Dc Ed Roberts, the Intelligence officer at Monmouth Police Station advises: "If a caller comes to your house and you are unsure as to their motives, always ask and then check their identification.

"Do not be embarrassed to ask as bogus callers are not embarrassed to steal your belongings."

Dc Roberts added: "If anyone can identify this person or can assist in this enquiry call myself or Pc Steve Clarke on 01495 232367. Failing that, anonymous information can be given to crimestoppers by telephoning 0800 555111."
