SPANDAU Ballet legend Tony Hadley says he can't wait to perform at the inaugural Pop in the Park music event at Bailey Park in Abergavenny this summer.

And the winner of ITV's Reborn in the USA series revealed he might have a special song up lined-up for the opening night of the event, which he will headline: Tom Jones' timeless classic Delilah.

Pop in the Park is being organised by Hannah's Music Promotions (HMP) of Chepstow, and takes place on the weekend of July 22-23. Other stars confirmed to appear at the event include X-Factor favourites Chico and Journey South and Ireland's biggest blues-soul exports, The Commitments.

Tony Hadley, who had a string of Top 40 hits with 80s icons Spandau Ballet before launching a solo career, said: "I always love performing in Wales and this will be my first open-air concert for a long time so I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe since the concert is in Wales I might perform Delilah."

Tickets for the event are now available through top events tickets specialists Ticketline and are already selling fast.

"We always expected there to be a lot of interest in the event because of the great acts lined-up to perform, but even we've been surprised by how much there has been," said Carol Mutlow of HMP.

Tickets for the opening day of the event, featuring Chico, Journey South and Tony Hadley, are just £20, and £25 for the weekend.

Entry for children under five years of age is free with a paying adult.
