WAYNE Morley set up one and scored the other on Saturday, as Caldicot Town put in a mediocre performance at Tred-egar, writes Keith Fairbank. But his efforts and those of his teammates were not enough to overwhelm a good home side - with manager Jason Pritchard forced to admit Tredegar were simply better on the day.

The Caldicot boss said: "I'd like to give credit to them, they played better and really deserved the win.

"I don't want to knock our boys because we've had a great season and didn't put in a bad performance. We're just at a stage now where the season is at risk of petering out and we'd like to bounce back with a couple of wins and maybe break the 60-point barrier."

This meaningless Division Two clash was deadlocked for the first 45 minutes until, after being on the back foot for the opening exchanges of the second half, Caldicot opened the scoring when Morley put through Jason Thorne.

But Tredegar responded with three goals in quick succession from Darren Bennett, Ashley Ford and Sam Hartree.

Morley made it 3-2 at the death with a good finish, while Town now look to their trip to Caerau Ely on Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.

Pritchard added: "We've done a lot better than we thought at the start of the season and are now very optimistic for next year."
