A NEW car, a new home and holiday are top of the list for Torfaen's latest millionaire couple.
Recently retired factory worker Gareth Cooper and his wife Jenny, deputy head teacher of Kemys Fawr Infant School, in Griffithstown, are now contemplating their new life after scooping over £2 million on last Wednesday's Lotto draw.
The couple, from Cwmbran who have a 17-year-old daughter, have been busy preparing their dream shopping list.
"The first thing I will buy is a new car, and then we are going to look for a new house and book a holiday," Gareth said.
"I've always wanted a Toyota 4x4 truckman, so that is top of my list. Then we will look at buying a new house - and it will have to have some land as I've always my own smallholding."
Jenny added: "Hannah and I definitely plan to hit the shops for a girly shopping spree as soon as possible."
The family was not aware of their good fortune until Saturday, three days after the draw. Gareth said: "I'd bought the ticket on Tuesday, but didn't check the numbers until the following Saturday morning. Jenny was upstairs trying to persuade the gas board to lower our gas bills, while I was trying to tell her we had won the lottery.
"It took me a while to convince her and Hannah that I wasn't joking."
