A tremendous second half performance ensured that Cwmbran completed the double over Nelson in this away victory. Losing the first half 6-15 the Crows were three tries to nil down, all they had to show was two Carl Moore penalties for their efforts.

Nevertheless, stand-in captain Jamie Williams rallied his men to a supreme second half effort. The scrum, defence, lineout, all improved, but more significantly half-backs Fred Evans and Carl Moore kicked for position gaining good ground deep into the oppositions half. From there the pack with Teague, Kirkup and Tunley impressive, asserted itself in all phases of play. A drive for the line by Copeman and then Williams paved the way for inside-half Fred Evans to score a try. A quick tap penalty by open-side Gavin Teague resulted in him crashing over by the posts, his try was converted by Moore enabling Cwmbran to take the lead.

A couple of yellow cards didn't help Cwmbran's cause, however, their defence was rock solid - Cox, Hodges and Jelley doing sterling work. Good work by Coombes and Hayes resulted in Nelson infringing, conceding a penalty for Moore to goal.

The lead was further extended from the oppositions 22 when Birch took good ball at the lineout for Teague to crash over - Moore converted and completed his 16 point tally with a further penalty.
