THE doors of the new JD Wetherspoon pub, are finally open and with it comes the announcement everyone has been waiting for - the winner of our "free beer for six months competition!"
The Free Press was literally inundated with entries, with the number of postcards landing on the editor's desk entering into the hundreds, but there could be only one winner and that is Stephen Probert, of Morgan Street, Blaenavon. Mr Probert was presented with his prize of £250 worth of vouchers by Andrew Daniels, manager of the John Capel Hanbury, in Osborne Road.
The pub is the result of a £1.1 million development, which has transformed the former carpet shop, into a music-free, non-smoking establishment.
The John Capel Hanbury will open from 9am until midnight, Sundays to Thursdays, and from 9am until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
