KIND-hearted children and staff at a Pontypool nursery have collected toys and games for a Romanian nursery and are urging more people to do the same.

Osbourne Lodge Nursery has twinned up with Halmagiu Kindergarten in Romania sharing information about their cultures.

Before Christmas the nursery sent over some artwork, some sweatshirts with the nursery's logo on and a booklet telling them about Osbourne Lodge and the things the children do each day at nursery.

But the Pontypool nursery has also tried to do its bit to help by collecting items for children at Halmagiu.

The nursery's owner Nikola Masters explained how staff and parents have been donating items since October.

These will then by taken over to the nursery in the summer by the project Reach Out and Touch Romania which is based in Ebbw Vale.

Miss Masters said the nursery needs arts and crafts, colouring books, coloured paper and games which will be used by the children aged between three and seven.

She said these are the things which get left behind as the nursery has to use its budget on things it desperately needs like food and heating.

Anyone wanting to donate items can call into the nursery on Osbourne Road.
