Volunteers from Transition Chepstow Litter Action Group filled over 20 bin bags of rubbish last month following a clean-up in Thornwell.

Eight hard working volunteers braved brambles and chilly weather to fill over 20 bin bags with litter and assorted rubbish including road signs, sheets, tyres and burnt furniture fittings. The bags were later collected by Monmouthshire Council.

Cllr Marian Lewis who volunteered on the day said: "We worked all morning and pulled out a huge amount of rubbish from the bushes beside Tenby Lane car park and from the green areas in Lewis Way and Alice Crescent.

"The Litter Action Group is doing an amazing job and we wish it wasn't so necessary."

The next target for the group who are part of the Tidy Towns initiative is to clear litter at the Dell in Chepstow.

Volunteers are meeting on February 19 at 2pm. If you are interested in being involved with this or similar projects in Chepstow please contact Paul by emailing litter@transitionchepstow.org.uk
