A former Newport guest house is set to be sold at auction next week.

The part-refurbished semi detached Belmont Guest House is a three-storey building with rear annexe and is situated on the arterial Chepstow Road, Newport. The property has a guide price of £120,000-plus.

The property, located close to the junction of Corporation Road and Chepstow Road, has undergone a partial programme of refurbishment. Externally there is off road parking to the front of the property with a garden to the rear.

The refurbishment work includes plumbing, electrical and plastering although further improvements, including the fitting of kitchen and bathroom are required.

Keri Harding-Jones, of Paul Fosh Auctions, which is selling the property, said: “The current accommodation offers the potential for conversion to residential or alternative uses subject to planning permission."

She said a new layout for the building provides for nine bedrooms across the three floors and rear annexe served by a range of kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Another commercial building with potential for conversion is also coming up for sale at the auction is at 4a West Market Street in Newport.

The prominently-located, two-storey property is on the corner of West Market and Dolphin Streets and near to Lower Dock Street, has a guide price of £65,000-plus.

The total area extends to some 1,243 sq ft. The property is said to suit a range of uses and could be converted to residential use subject to planning permission

The auction will be held at the Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way East, Llanedyrn, Cardiff, on Thursday, December 10, starting at 5pm.
