THE right to fish for salmon and trout on the River Usk at Abergavenny is up for sale, having been in the same ownership for three generations.
The rare sale is expected to generate considerable interest from game anglers keen to enjoy exclusive sport on one of Wales’ finest rivers.
The ''beat' or area covered by the fishing rights is bordered by the owners of the Llanover and Coldbrook Estates, whose ancestors include the famed Lady Llanover.
The Great Hardwick Beat offers a mile of single-bank fishing overnine salmon pools and is being marketed nationwide by Smiths Gore, who are also based locally in Abergavenny.
With the fishing season commencing in March, the successful buyer could enjoy a full season’s fishing.
The fishing rights are on sale with Smiths Gore at a guide price of £250,000, and any readers interested in receiving further details can contact James Perks of Smiths Gore, james.perks@smithsgore.co.uk
