A CHOIR from Cwmbran are appealing for support after being shortlisted to perform in the Great British Proms.

Music group – Soul’d as Seen — are in the running to perform at the event’s choir competition, with winners announced on June 14.

Around 16 finalists could perform at one of four venues at the music event, with the Cwmbran choristers pitching for a date at Georgian country house Bowood House in Wiltshire.

The 65-strong adult gospel/pop choir was set up in April 2014 and is directed by Susie Webb, who is also fondly known as ‘Bluesy Susie’.

Speaking about the appeal, she said: “The choir are going from strength to strength and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It would be such an amazing opportunity. They’re not professional singers so it’s a really big deal.”

The group rehearse every Tuesday at Bron Afon Housing Association at 7.30pm. They have also performed at many festivals and venues including the Millennium Centre, Dolman Theatre, St David’s Hall and Cardiff Castle.

Christmas 2016 also saw the release of the choir’s first single ‘Christmas Lullaby’, which appeared at number five in the Apple Chart.
