PLANS to demolish a garage and build a new bungalow in a back garden in Monmouth have been approved, despite concerns.
An outline application to build the bungalow in Hereford Road, Monmouth, was approved by Monmouthshire County Council’s planning committee last Tuesday, June 6.
Cllr Phil Murphy said he had “considerable sympathy” for neighbours in the area, but said he would “reluctantly” vote for approval.
He said the planning application met sufficient criteria to be passed.
Cllr Debby Blakebrough said although the application met planning criteria, it would “severely affect” neighbours.
Cllr Louise Brown agreed, saying the application would affect the lives of neighbours by bringing noise and affecting the way people use their gardens.
She put forward a motion that councillors refuse planning permission, against officers’ advice.
But councillors voted eight to five against the proposal, meaning permission was granted.
