A MONMOUTHSHIRE-based author who served in the Met Police for 25 years will be discussing his latest book at Chepstow community hub on Thursday August 17.

Matt Johnson’s thriller ‘Deadly Game’ follows his debut ‘Wicked Game’, which was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association John Creasy Dagger award. Both books draw from Mr Johnson’s time on the beat in London.

In 1982, he was one of the first officers on the scene of the Regent’s Park bombing and was also also present at the Libyan Embassy shooting two years later, where he escorted his mortally wounded friend and colleague Yvonne Fletcher to hospital.

He was blown off his feet at the London Baltic exchange bombing in 1993 and eventually hidden wounds took their toll and he was discharged with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Mr Johnson will be selling and signing copies of his latest book. For more information call 01291 635730.
