A NEWLY-OPENED housing estate in Raglan will help provide “affordable homes for local people”, according to the AM for Monmouth.

Nick Ramsay officially opened Lys Cadoc, a Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA) development, on Monday.

The development is made up of three three-bed houses and seven two-bed homes.

It replaced St Cadoc’s Court, which was Monmouthshire’s first purpose-built elderly care community when it opened in 1970.

“Many people have happy memories of St Cadoc’s Court and were saddened when the building was demolished, having been deemed unfit for purpose,” said Mr Ramsay.

“I hope the Lys Cadoc development will be equally successful. We need more affordable homes for local people, and Llys Cadoc helps achieve this goal.”
