PARTS of two major Newport roads will be closed to traffic overnight on arranged dates to allow four very large brewery vessels to be moved from Newport Docks to Magor Brewery.
Newport council and Monmouthshire council will bring an order into force on February 23 which will mean that part of the A48 Southern Distributor Road, Queensway Meadows and the Eastern Distributor Road will be closed for 10 hours overnight on arranged dates for 18 months.
The vessels will also have to be lifted over Spytty Road railway bridge.
During the closures no vehicles will be able to use the Southern Distributor Road from Newport Docks to Leeway roundabout, Queensway Meadows from its junction with the SDR to its junction with Longditch roundabout including the roundabout, Eastern Distributor Road from its junction with Longditch roundabout for 28 metres in a north-easterly direction and the Eastern Distributor Road from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Broadstreet Common to its junction with the brewery access road.
