A SCREENING of the Bolshoi ballet's rendition of Sleeping Beauty will be held at Chepstow's Drill Hall on Sunday.

In the magical classic, the renowned dancers take the audience on a dreamlike journey through the famous fairy tale, complete with jewel fairies, a magical kingdom, a youthful princess and a handsome prince.

In the purest style of classical ballet, the Bolshoi’s sumptuous staging with luxurious sets and costumes brings Perrault’s tale to life.

The screenings, broadcast from Moscow, show the dancers in close up, as well as views of the whole stage and even the patterns made by dancers from above – ensuring viewers have the 'best seat in the house'.

The dances will be set to the music of Tchaikovsky, and the main roles of Princess and Prince will be danced by two of the foremost figures in the Bolshoi company today.

The event at the Drill Hall will also serve as a fundraiser for Chepstow Museum.

Tickets cost £12 and £10 for concessions, with all funds going directly to the museum.
