A CRACK addict has been kicked out of his home by a housing association.

The house, 59 Brangwyn Avenue, Oakfield, Cwmbran, was closed in July after Class A drugs such as crack cocaine and heroin were found inside.

Earlier this year, at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court, magistrate Philip Walker granted a closure order that no-one can enter the property for three months from July 24 after dealer bags, weighing scales and a pipe for smoking crack cocaine were found there.

Prior to this action, Gwent Police said they had received 141 calls relating to the property in the last 11 years.

At Newport County Court last week, a 28-day possession order was granted to social landlord Bron Afon.

This will prevent tenant Kevin Crowley ever going back to the property.

Crowley lived in the property since 1986, but computerised records only detail calls about it since 2001.

Police told Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court that Bron Afon incidents relating to the property include drunken parties, a drug user found dead there, another man found unconscious with severe head injuries, a rape allegation made from an incident at the premises and a 14- year-old girl offered drugs.

Bron Afon’s community safety manager Denise Pearce said: “This case shows that people who cause problems in our communities are at risk of losing their home. When we can get the evidence we will take action.

“A lot of our work is behind the scenes, collecting statements and working with the police on the best course of action.

“In cases like this it was an easy decision for the court to take.

They were on our side and could see that we were no longer under any obligation to house him.

“Residents in Oakfield will be glad to hear this news after suffering for some time.”
