A WOMAN from Cwmbran, who was chosen to become a Community Champion Fundraiser for the Peter Andre Foundation, which supports Cancer Research UK, is urging the community to get involved.

Dedicated Peter Andre fan Samantha Williams previously raised £1,500 for the foundation which funded two mobile buses to host Cancer Awareness road shows.

Mrs Williams, 42, took up her new role as a community champion in October, along with eight others from across the country.

She said: “The aim is to try to get my local community behind my fundraising whether it be schools, groups, businesses, teams or individuals to create a fundraising event or sponsored event.

“All the money will go to the foundation which will then be donated to Cancer Research UK.”

The Coed Eva resident has planned six fundraising event in the coming months.

The first is an afternoon tea and craft sale this Saturday, between 2pm and 4pm at Henllys Village Hall.

On November 29, there will be a psychic night, 7.30pm to 11pm, at Cwrt Henllys. Tickets are on sale for £10, which includes a buffet, from the venue.

Mrs Williams was recently support by Page's Fish and Chips in Cwmbran, who raised £93.65 for the foundation from the sale of 5p carrier bags.

She added: “I hope to reach out to the community to get involved and to help with the fundraising so the foundation can raise even more money for the charity.”
