STAFF from a Torfaen youth centre received a visit from two Welsh Government assembly members yesterday, as part of an inquiry into youth work.

Alun Davies AM, the minister for life long learning and Welsh language, and Torfaen representative Lynne Neagle visited the Cwmbran Centre for Young People (CCYP) to meet service users and learn about the local, regional and national relationships the centre enjoys with partners.

The visit formed part of the Inquiry into Youth Work which proposes a national model for both statutory and voluntary youth work in Wales.

Torfaen AM and inquiry chair Ms Neagle said: “CCYP provide a fantastic service for young people in Torfaen, but face constant challenges with funding.”

She added the visit could “inform (the minister’s) consideration” of ensuring all young people have access to “high quality youth work”.
