A TRADER from Pontypool who battled testicular cancer plans to get a tattoo paying tribute to a charity which helped him during his recovery.
Pontypool market trader Richard Klier will get a tattoo of the Velindre Cancer Centre logo next weekend, while raising funds through sponsorships.
The 42-year-old, from Abertillery, will have the tattoo donated by Scott Gallear, of the Cold Soul Collective Tattoo Studio in Pontypool, after Velindre supported him through three cycles of chemotherapy following a diagnosis last year.
It will take place during a family fun day in the town centre on Saturday.
Mr Klier, who runs Bubblicious Bathtime in Pontypool Indoor Market with partner Lisa Taylor, said: “I have had a huge amount of support from Velindre and this is my way of giving something back by raising money for the centre, and drawing attention to testicular cancer which many men are afraid to talk about.”
Mr Klier said the fun day will include stalls in the town, games for children, and music and dance.
“We have a fantastic day planned, with fun for all the family and a raffle with some great prizes including an Amazon Echo, tickets for a tour of the Principality Stadium, sessions at the Escape Rooms in Cardiff, champagne, meals for two, and lots more,” he added. “It would be great to see as many people as possible coming to Pontypool on Saturday to have a great day out and to help us raise money for a really important charity.”
