THE Blaenavon Christmas Cracker returned to the streets of the heritage town on Saturday to help spread the festive feeling among the hundreds of visitors.

Organised by the Blaenavon Town Team, the annual event nearly never came to fruition until the town council stepped in earlier in the year to save the event.

Unlike last year’s heavy rain, visitors of all ages braved the icy conditions and were treated to scenes akin to Christmas card in the heritage town, following the weekend’s flurries of snow in the north of the borough.

“I thought it was a really good event,” said Jac Denley-Jones of the Blaenavon Town Team," even if it was absolutely freezing.

“It was very atmospheric with the snow, especially in the car park at the top of Broad Street with the lights in the trees.

"We had 20 stalls in the marquee and the children loved the go-karts.

"We had excellent support from everyone who helped out on the day and and without them, and the town council who saved the event earlier in the year, we would not have had such a successful event."
