THE Danish variety store, Tiger, will open its second Welsh store in Cwmbran this weekend, creating 12 new jobs in the town centre.

The retailer will open its doors today at Gwent Square in the former Dorothy Perkins store.

Mayor of Torfaen, Cllr Mandy Owen, will be cutting the ribbon, while members of the Tiger team will give out balloons and snacks to try.

Tiger sells Scandinavian home accessories, gifts, kitchenware, stationery, toys, cosmetics, spices and much more.

Started in Copenhagen in 1995, Tiger came to the UK in 2005, and the Cwmbran store is its 39th store in the UK.

The centre manager of Cwmbran Shopping, Paul Rich, said: "We are thrilled Tiger has chosen Cwmbran Shopping for its latest store in Wales. We're sure our customers will be very pleased the company has arrived here."

Kate Methuen-Ley, Director for Tiger Wales and West, added: "We have great aspirations for Tiger in this region, and the vibrant Cwmbran Shopping centre was the obvious choice for our second store.

"We have recruited a fantastic and dedicated local team, and look forward to seeing them thrive.”
