A STRAY chicken found on a doorstep has sparked a hunt for its owners.
Well, for two RSPCA officers - in this case it was the chicken - after a stray chicken [18 February] RSPCA inspector Gemma Black, along with RSPCA animal welfare officer Sian Burton, collected the lost chicken from Pentwyn Terrace, Abersychan, Pontypool on Wednesday after it was seen wandering the streets that afternoon.
Inspector Black said: “We picked her up and put her in the van and drove around 20 minutes to a veterinary surgery and during that time she laid an egg in the box she was in.
“The chicken has some feathers missing from her back but is fine. We’ve put some posters up to try and track down the owner.”
The chicken is currently in RSPCA care and will be rehomed if the owner is not found.
If anyone has any information about this chicken please call us on the RSPCA inspector information line on 0300 123 8018. Calls will be treated in confidence.
