BLAENAVON BLUES 1 V 2 GOVILON
GOVILON grabbed an injury time winner to bag themselves a spot in the second round of the John Payne Barber Amateur cup fixture and break Blaenavon hearts.
The Blues welcomed Govilon to the Memorial ground on Saturday for the first round tie. Two weeks earlier in the league the game ended all square in a game Govilon dominated.
This week the Blues dominated large periods, only to fail to convert numerous chances.
The Blues opened the scoring within five minutes when a Darryl Brenton cross was diverted into his own net.
At 25 minutes, the Blues lost central defender Matt Cox and, within 15 minutes, right back Darryl Brenton both with a knee injury. The second half sawGovilon start to dominate, but the Blues always looked dangerous on the counter attack.
Govilon’s keeper Parsons made superb saves.
With five minutes to go, Govilon caught the Blues out for an unlikely equaliser.
In injury time, Govilon sneaked a winner.
