JASON Tovey will double up to help Cross Keys’ survival bid in the Principality Premiership at Pandy Park this afternoon.

After being on the Dragons’ bench for the Guinness PRO14 derby with Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park last night, the fly-half wears 10 on his back for the Keys against mid-table Carmarthen Quins.

The left-footer, who has returned to the Rodney Parade region on permit from Keys, joins forces with Dragons scrum-half Rhodri Davies.

Keys, whose game at Bridgend was postponed last week, sit fifth from bottom in the promotion/relegation play-off spot.

Newport stick with a winning team for a tricky trip to relegation-threatened Bargoed, who are eyeing a derby win to spark a climb up the table.

The Black and Ambers management make no changes to the XV that turned over Carmarthen Quins 22-15 at Rodney Parade with Andy Mann, a lock by trade, continuing at blindside for the expected tough challenge up front against the Bulls.

Bargoed take some encouragement from pushing Llandovery hard in a 21-11 defeat at Church Bank last week.

That display means changes are kept to a minimum with a number of former Black and Ambers in their 23, notably scrum-half James Leadbeater and prop John Lavender.

Newport have won the last three meetings between the sides but Bargoed’s excellent 35-14 win at Rodney Parade in October, 2017 will be fondly remembered and provide hope for the home support.

Ebbw Vale sit fourth after four wins on the spin since a home disappointment against Newport.

The Steelmen aim to keep that run going against Aberavon, the side one spot beneath them in the table.

Dragons centre/fly-half Jacob Botica is not available this week so his spot in midfield goes to bright prospect Aneurin Owen.

Bedwas are in a dogfight at the basement so anything from their home encounter with title favourites Merthyr will be a bonus.

The men from Bridge Field have suffered back-to-back losses to Swansea and Pontypridd but will relish their underdog tag on home soil.

Bedwas are boosted by Dragons wing George Gasson and have a raft of players on permit, including Cardiff’s former Pontypool and Wales Under-20s lock/flanker Sam Pailor and the Blue and Blacks’ Georgian front rower Ramaz Rukhadze, who is among the replacements.
