TWO sets of Chepstow brothers have earned their places at next week’s Welsh Amateur Boxing Finals, writes Bob Cypher.

Gussy Cash took on Cai McGuigan of Llangefni in the semi final at the weekend and will join his brother Jerry in the finals.

Chepstow BC head coach Steve Woods said he was proud of the boxers’ performance.

“Gussy put on a superb display of boxing skill and rightfully won the bout by a unanimous decision,” he added.

“He now joins his brother Jerry and two other brothers from our gym - Cai and Kayd Dean in next weekend’s finals.

“All four boxers are current Welsh champions and are aiming to retain their titles.

“I’m so proud to have four schoolboy boxers in the finals two years running.

“We would have preferred more bouts to get to the finals but each time the draw was made our boxers’ opponents withdrew from the contest.

“I’m sure the other lads will turn up for the final as I know we are up against good, well-schooled and strong competition.”
