CROSS Keys head coach Greg Woods says his side has no margin for error if they are to repeat last year’s achievement of qualifying for the Principality Premiership playoffs.

The Pandy Park side host Llanelli tomorrow needing a win to cling on to the coattails of the pacesetters.

Third-placed Carmarthen Quins are currently 13 points ahead of Keys, who suffered their third defeat out of five league fixtures at Neath last weekend.

The club’s recent success has been based on strong home form yet tonight they are looking to get up and running on their own turf after Premiership defeats to Bedwas and Ebbw Vale.

Llanelli are also a side used to mixing it at the head of the table but, like Keys, have suffered three defeats from five and, like Keys, head into the game on the back of a disappointing performance after being beaten 30-19 by Newport.

It means that both sides are in desperate need of at least four points.

“We have to win or we can kiss the playoffs goodbye already,” said Woods. “We have to crank things up, stay tight as a squad and get back to what we have been good at over the past few years.

“It was a really poor result at Neath. We played well in patches and were 19-7 up but the wheels came off and we lost our shape.

“Our big players made simple errors and we have to put right some wrongs against Llanelli. We need to improve our accuracy, keep the ball a lot better and make our tackles – that’s not asking for anything out of the ordinary.

“We have shown that we are a good side in the last few seasons and just need to get back to the basics but it won’t be easy because Llanelli are on the back of a bad result themselves.”

Keys are looking for a seventh win on the spin against the west Walians in Gwent. The last time that Llanelli triumphed at Pandy Park was in October, 2008 when their side included Rhys Priestland, Jonathan Davies, Josh Turnbull, Aaron Shingler, Nic Cudd, Dominic Day and Dan Evans.

Dorian Jones starts for the Dragons against Harlequins so Angus O’Brien, who has started the last three games for the region and kicked them to glory against Stade Francais in Paris, is set to pull the strings.
