Division Two (Second XIs)

A SUPERB stand of 188 for the third wicket gave Sudbrook Seconds a welcome victory at Barry Athletic Seconds, writes Bob Cypher.

Steve Comins (84) played a skipper’s part when the first two wickets fell with 33 on the scoreboard.

Comins and Charlie Heaven – with a fine 107 runs – more than steadied the ship and Sudbrook posted an impressive 273-6 in their 45 overs.

In reply Barry started badly losing four wickets for just 13 runs but Scott Hopkins (41 not out) and Nuwan Jayasanka Perera made 48 – the only home batsmen to make double figures.

Pick of the Sudbrook bowlers was Rob Simmonds with three wickets for 20 runs and one maiden in his seven overs with his brother Ian posting 2-7 with two maidens in six overs, and Paul Adams 2-5 with 3 maidens in six overs.

Harry Woodward and Jon Clements took a wicket apiece for what Comins described as a convincing victory.
