THE tearoom at one of Monmouthshire’s most popular tourist sites has been shortlisted for a national food award.
The Old Station’s tearoom, on the outskirts of Tintern, is a top contender in the inaugural food awards England and Wales.
Its café saw off competition from thousands of nominations to reach the shortlist.
Lesley Sterry, of Carriages Catering, which operates the tea room at Old Station, said: “We are pleasantly surprised at being nominated and it is a great achievement to have been thought of so highly.”
The award ceremony takes place at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on November 17.
Yasmin Mahmood, of event organisers Creative Oceanic, said: “We are excited to welcome those who provide and supply us with gastronomic delights.”
